I am going to talk to you about Titanic. I am sure that you all must have heard the ship's name. It was built in 1907. It is one of the largest ship in the world. The Titanic was know as the ship of Destiny. The ship was so beautifully decorated with carvings walls and ceilings. Every mile Titanic used 2 tons of coal. The ship was 11 storey tall in height as long as 4 city blocks. It also had 50,000 horse power engine. There were 2,500 people on board Titanic. It also had 16 water tight compartments. There were emergency exit that would drop in a second when electrical switch from bridge. There were more standard restaurant like the cafe parisian. There were restaurants which had musicians on hand to serenade the dinner. The best suites had sumptuous furnishings and beautifully finished oak panelling that helped to justify the peak of $ 4,350 one way (Nearly $ 40,000 in todays dollars) The ship was one of the first to have a swimming pool; a 21 light candelbra illuminated the grand staircase; Cigar holders were provided in all the first class bathrooms. A electric potato peeler made a life a little easier for the scullery boys. A gymnasium boasted all the latest excercise machines from Germany and amateur photographers were delighted to hear that there would be a darkroom on board so that their films could be developed on voyage. Even the 1,000 or so steerage passengers on lower deck would find better living accomadations than many had ever known before. So Titanic approached berth 44 at southampton on April 3rd 1912. As she cast off on April 12th. As she cast off on April 10th and headed for an open sea. It was clear to everyone on board that the ship was going to create a great stir British Shipping circles have ever known. There was a second Officer whose name was Charles H Lightoller. Each day as the voyage went on, everybody's admiration of the shop increase for the way she behaved for the total absence of vibration, for her steadiness even with the ever increasing speed, as she warmed up to her work. Any society columnist who had managed to book passage on Titanic first voyage could have filled a notebook in a hurry simply by recording the names and shipboard activities of the rich and famous who were traveling first class. Among them were the mining magnate Benjamin Guggenheim and the recently divorced John Jacob Astor who had left gossiping celebrity watchers behind to show Europe to his new teenage bride, Madeline. British Nobility were represented by Sir Cosmo and Lady Duff Gorden and American Politics by the dashing Maj Achibald Butt Formerly an Aide to president William Howard taft. One of the most venrable of all the millionaires was devoted to Ida Straus, his wife of more than 40 years old. Equally notable was Mrs Margaret Tobin Brown of Denver, Colorado, distinguished by her forthright manner, definite opinions and fashionably large hats known to her friends as Molly she would seen be celebrated far and wide as the Unsinkable. Molly Brown one of the busiest figures abroad was Thomas Andrews, An official of the firm that had built the Titanic, who seemed to be spending every waking moment writing down improvements for the ship (too much dark woodwork on the prominade; too many screws in the stateroom hat racks) that could be taken care of when she returned to England
By Sunday Morning April 14th Titanic speed was increasing to nearly 550 miles. They were unable to see the huge iceberg coming their way when they saw it. It was too late to turn the ship away from the ice. So they hit the iceberg Tons of ice fell on the ship. After they heard "They were hit by the ice" People of the ship was full of frighten and panic. The officer went from cabin to cabin telling them to put their life jackets on whereas the captain gave the order of women and children onto the boat first. They tried to give a signal to the other ship but it was no use. Few of the people of the life boats were saved whereas others have jumped into the water. Bremen Found the body of many men, women, children and animals. most of the people died under the smoke stack and those who knew they cannot be saved they died inside their cabin. Many scientist and discovery people have discovered the part of the Titanic still there on the sea bed. They Examined all the pieces like watches etc
